Former Fort Worth Texas Chief of Police Dr. Joel Fitzgerald Sr. has a deep understanding of policing and the problems with police and community relations. He served as Chief of Police at several police departments. While Chief of Police in Fort Worth Texas he was terminated while looking into questionable dealings within the City of Fort Worth.
Since Dr. Fitzgerald’s termination in May of 2019, the number of Police involved shootings has dramatically increased in the City of Fort Worth.
Dr. Joel Fitzgerald has an extensive career in law enforcement. He was the City of Fort Worth Chief of Police from October 2015 to May 2019, the City of Allentown Chief of Police December 20, 2013, to October 2015, and the Missouri City Chief of Police (Ret.) from April 2009 to December 2013 during which time he earned a Ph.D. in Business Administration/Public Administration.
Dr Fitzgerald has also served as a Philadelphia Police Department Officer, (Sergeant and Lieutenant) from 1992 to 2009, and has been the Law Enforcement Executive Development Association (FBI-LEEDA) Executive Board Member-Elected Sgt. at Arms from May 2019 to present. Additionally, from January 2018 to September 2018 he was an Adjunct Professor at Tarleton State University.
